Repellents

Return to California ground squirrel menu or Belding's ground squirrel menu
There are no effective repellents available for California or Belding's ground squirrel control. Ground squirrels are not easily driven out from their burrow or home range area. When scared, they retreat to their burrows, but it is very unlikely that they will move to a new area all together. Thus, repellents and frightening are not effective methods for ground squirrel control.

The charts on this page suggest time frames for when repellents might be relatively more effective.
Repellents are generally effective for CA ground squirrel from mid-January to mid-October
